Configuring a Windows Mobile PDA to Sync Outlook Email, Calendar, Contacts & Tasks – Exchange Mailbox
Overview:
NOTE: If not already, the ActiveSync feature will need to be enabled for your Microsoft Exchange mailbox. Contact your Microsoft Exchange provider or administrator for assitance with this step. Many PDA phones support this configuration including but not limited to iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android based phones like the DROID.
Procedure:
To synchronize your Pocket PC to your you@yourdomain.com account, please follow these instructions. Keep in mind that the Pocket PC and Treo menus can vary. The instruction provided are basic setting information that will allow you to configure ActiveSync to wirelessly sync over the mobile network your Outlook inbox and subfolders, calendar, contacts & tasks.
- On your Pocket PC or Treo, go to Start, (Programs on some phones)
- If you have already configured active sync previously, click Menu and then ‘Configure Server’
Choose ActiveSync
NOTE: Some phones may require you to click ‘set up your devices to sync with it’ the first time you open activesync
Server address: mail.yourexchangeservername.com (Check This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection) Click Next
Username: Normally, the username will be your exchange server OMA address. This address has a 20 characters limit and the @ sign will be replaced by the # sign
For Example: username@yourdomainname.com will be username#youdomainna
Password: will be the same as your Exchange mailbox password
Domain: windows domain
Save password (required for automatic sync) Click Next
Edit Server Setting (Choose the data you want to synchronize) Contact, Calendar, Email and Task
Click Finish
Click Sync if the synchronizing does not start automatically
You can adjust your settings to fit your needs for things like how much of an email message to download, how far back to sync your calendar’s past items and the syncing schedule.
