Desktop Manager is Giving Me an Error When I Try to Synchronize with My BlackBerry
There are many potential issues with the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software but only one general solution: re-install the software. There is a trick to this, though. You must first perform a ‘clean uninstallation’ of the software and then reinstall it.

Perform a Clean Uninstall of your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software
Whenever your BlackBerry Desktop Manager software starts to misbehave (crashes during synchronization, fails to synchronize properly, etc) you should try to perform a clean uninstallation of the software and then reinstall it. (Note: Just uninstalling the software without following this procedure will have no effect. You MUST follow the steps below
Procedure:
- Use Add/Remove Programs to remove the BlackBerry Desktop Redirector.
- Click Start->Settings->Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click BlackBerry Desktop Software.
- Click Remove.
- Delete the BlackBerry software from your hard drive.
- Click Start->Run.
- Type explorer and click OK.
- Click Tools->Folder Options (in your menu bar).
- Click the View tab.
- Click Show Hidden files and folders then click OK.
- Rename the folder ‘Research in Motion’ located in your ‘C:\Program Files’ folder to ‘Research in Motion old’
- Rename the folder ‘PUMATECH’ located in your ‘C:\Program Files\Common Files’ folder to ‘PUMATECH old’
- Rename the folder ‘Research in Motion’ located in your ‘C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data’ folder to ‘Research in Motion old’
- Restart your computer.
