Find it Fast In Outlook with Windows Desktop Search
I can remember the days of searching for emails in Outlook when the story went something like this:
- Enter what you are searching for into Outlook Search
- Go get a cup of coffee while Outlook piles through your 1,000′s of emails
- Come back and wait some more for it to finish
- Get control of your blood pressure because you have better things to do than wait for Outlook to get done
- Dig through the results to find what you were looking for
- Found it – finally ready to move on with your day!
Well those days are over now with Windows Desktop Search. Personally I have been using it for quite some time and love it. Once you install Desktop Search it first goes through all your email folders and makes what’s called an index of all the data in them. An index is nothing more than a shorthand version of all the info in your emails that the computer can search quicker and easier. Once it is done indexing your emails (that can take awhile if you have tons of email in Outlook) you can search through thousands of emails almost instantly.
Here is the really cool part about Desktop Search and Indexing. It even searches your attachments for those terms! You got it.. if you search for say “Email Campaign” it will bring back every email that has a file with those words in it – pretty sweet huh!
Using Desktop Search with Outlook 2007 is your best bet for features and performance. To find out more about getting Desktop Search for free you can go to Microsoft’s website here: Windows Desktop Search Download
If you are a Link2Exchange customer you can download Outlook 2007 at no charge by going to the Hosted Exchange Support area on our site.
Believe me when I tell you – you want this in your life especially if you do a ton of emailing like me.
Happy Searching Folks!
