Stop Your BlackBerry From Ringing or Vibrating Every Time You Receive an Email
By default, your BlackBerry is configured to ring or vibrate when new e-mail messages are received (depending on whether the BlackBerry is in or our of its holster). This can be annoying and many people prefer not to be notified for each message. Follow the procedure below to receive silent notification when you have new e-mail on your BlackBerry.
Procedure:
On the home screen (on your Blackberry), click Profiles
Click the trackball to show your options, select advanced
Scroll down and click on phone Only and your menu button
Select Edit
Selected Phone
Configure your ‘Out of Holster’ settings.
Highlight the value next to Out of Holster.
Click the trackball to pull down the menu and click Change Option.
Scroll up and click on None.
Highlight the value next to Repeat Notifications.
Click the trackball to pull down the menu and click Change Option.
Scroll down and click on LED Flashing. (This will cause your Blackberry’s LED to flash when you receive a message – this step is optional)
Configure your ‘In Holster’ settings.
Highlight the value next to In Holster.
Click the trackball to pull down the menu and click Change Option.
Scroll up and click on None.
Highlight the value next to Repeat Notifications.
Click the trackball to pull down the menu and click Change Option.
Scroll down and click on LED Flashing.
Click the trackball to pull down the menu and click Save.
That’s it! From now on your only notification of new e-mail will be the LED light on your BlackBerry.
